PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reciprocate an intermediate support portion in the excavating direction for the reciprocating motion of a cutter and easily and accurately control the pressing force of the cutter in a bulkhead type shield machine supporting the cutter with an intermediate support system. SOLUTION: A cutter 1 is intermediately supported by six cutter arms 10 at an intermediate section 1C between a radial center section and an outer periphery section, and it is fitted to a bearing 13 via a nearly circular cutter ring 40. A gear 15 is provided on the outer periphery side of the bearing 13, and a pinion 14 fitted to a cutter driving motor 12 is meshed with the gear 15. The cutter ring 40, bearing 13, and cutter driving motor 12 are installed on a cutter sliding member 11 and vertically moved by a cutter lifting jack 30. |
