<p>The system for rescuing persons from burning buildings such as hotels, assumes that each room of the building is fitted with one individual gear and each window has a hook projecting from the window sill. This uses gear consisting of a casing (10) fitted with harness (12). Inside the housing is a drum (16) rotating on a shaft (14) and accommodating a length of steel cable (18) with an eyelet (20). At one end of the shaft assembly (24) is fitted a device which controls the speed of the rotating drum (16). The assembly can be mechanical, hydraulic or pneumatic and its purpose is to control the lowering speed in a linear way independently of the load acting on the cable end.</p> |
