A winding machine for continuously arriving yarns possesses two rotatably mounted winding spindles which are put into operation alternately. The drive of the winding spindles which are in operation takes place by frictional contact with a first contact roller. For the bobbin change, there is a second contact roller, against which the winding spindle to be brought into the position of rest and having the full bobbin can be applied in the meantime, in order to maintain the rotational speed during the transfer of the yarn onto the other winding spindle. The contact rollers are preferably driven by the same motor, one contact roller being driven by a gear, whilst the second contact roller is seated on the motor shaft.
