PURPOSE:To obtain the titled catalyst component having excellent properties and giving a polymer at a low cost, by contacting an acid halide compound, a silicon halide compound and a solid component containing a specific Ti compound, Mg and a halogen under specific condition. CONSTITUTION:The objective catalyst component can be produced by contacting (A) a solid component containing a Ti compound having OR<1> group (R<1> is hydrocarbon group) [e.g. Ti(OC2H5)4, etc.], Mg and a halogen, (B) an acid halide compound (e.g. phthalyl chloride) and (C) a silicon halide (e.g. SiCl4) preferably at 0-100 deg.C using a rotary ball mill, etc., or agitating in an inert solvent, wherein at least one of the contacting processes is carried out using a mixed contact product of the component B and the component C. The component A can be produced, e.g. by contacting a Mg halide with a Ti compound containing OR<1> group.
