POLY(VINYL ALCOHOL)SHORT FIBER AND ITS PREPARATIVE METHOD

The monofilament, having high strength, excellent elastic modulus and alkali resistant property, is achieved by employing both special saponification agents and highly advanced mechanical shearing operation. Also the monofilament with abundant syndiotactic groups, is prepared by saponification of the parent polymerization body of polyvinylalcohol, and has the microfibrillation structure, in which the mean length reaches 1 to 100mm and the mean diameter reaches 1 to 50 Pm. and has 55 to 64% of syndiotactic group content, 85.0 to 99.9 mol % of sulfonation rate and 4,500 to 20,000 of the number average polymerization rate.
