PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric motor for an electric compressor, which can do away with balance weight parts from a rotor by making an electromagnetic steel plate have a balance weight function and can get off with the possible fewest kinds of electromagnetic steel sheets, a method of adjusting its rotor balance, and the electric compressor. SOLUTION: For the rotor 36 of the electric motor for the electric compressor, the iron core is constituted by stacking plural sheets of electromagnetic steel 37. A hole 39 for balance adjustment is made in the electromagnetic steel sheets 37. The plural sheets of electromagnetic steel 37 are stacked in two kinds of ways of arrangement where the holes 37 are slid by 180°in circumferential direction. Consequently, in the cross section passing the axis of the rotor 36, vacant spaces S made by the holes 39 confront each other in diagonal direction across an axis, and weight function parts W are made in sections opposed to the vacant spaces S across the axis of the rotor 36.
