<p>1332568 Selective plating SEL-REX CORP 18 May 1971 [20 May 1970] 15527/71 Heading C7B Selected areas of a workpiece 10 e.g. of Cu are electro-plated, e.g. with Au, Ag, Ru or Rh, by pressing it e.g. using a hydraulic press 17 against a work holder 36 e.g. of PVC having openings 37a, b, c therethrough registering with the areas, making the workpiece the cathode and pumping electrolyte from a tank 14 e.g. via pipes 46, 47 and pump 16 past an anode, e.g. a conductive manifold 18 having holes 26a, b, c in its top wall 24 also registering with the selected areas, through the openings on to the areas. A resilient sheet 39 e.g. of neoprene may be placed between the workpiece and the press 17 to prevent plating of the workpiece back. Electrolyte sprayed on to the areas may drain in a surrounding tub 27 and be returned via pipes 29, 48 to tank 14 for reuse.</p> |
