PURPOSE:To minimize oxidation of a developer due to air and prevent pollution of a developing rack due to oxidation products by adding an adequate amt. of isomeric potassium hydrogensulfite and Metol to the developer for an X-ray photographic film. CONSTITUTION:In automatic development of an X-ray photographic film, to an automatic developer are added about 2.5g of potassium metabisulfite and about 0.1g of Metol per 1000cc of a development replenisher. The developer thus adjusted prevents oxidation and compensates for an accompanied lowering in reducing capacity of the developing agent to silver halide. It is slightly colored even if allowed to stand for a long time, and developing results about equal to those of an antioxidant- free developer immediately after preparation are obtained. |
