Prodn. of D-glucose and starch hydrolysis

D-glucose and starch hydrolysates are prepd. by hydrolysis of starch (-contg. materials) by acid and/or enzymic catalysis by (a) sterilising a partial hydrolysate having an ED value of 15-35%, which has been previously purified by mechanical solid/liquid sepn. and adsorptive sepn. involving a heating step; (b) adjusting the pH value of the stenlised partial hydrolysate to 4-6; (c) adding free enzyme; (d) placing the enzyme-catalysed substrate into one or more reaction vessels contg. enzyme/support complexes in noninhibited diffusion from and subjecting the substrate to hydrolysis by the combined action of the free enzyme and the supported enzyme; (e) continuing the hydrolysis at 326-338 (331-350) deg.K and an unitial ED value of 35-80%. (f) effecting the treatment bachwise or continuously in one or more steps, until final specific hydrolysis of the prod. (g) deactivating the enzyme by heating, (h) purifying the deactivated hydrolysate and (i) converting it by thermal concn., crystallisation, spray-drying or granulation in turbulent layers into a finished or ready for use prod.
