The novel method for making headgear according to the invention is intended particularly for creating derived models or headgear, based on polygonal, polyhedral or elliptical geometrical shapes, which, by means of the head being placed into the slit, deforms the material, producing a modulable volume, and facilitates rotation about the head. The arrangement of this slit right on the cross of the material used permits all rotations which are adaptable around the head. A stretch strip 3, blind-hemmed 4 around the slit 2 and then covered with a bias strip 5 in the same fabric as the headgear or matched therewith, the whole then being turned inside the module 1, enables heads of different sizes to be placed into the slit. <IMAGE>
