Compounds of the present invention, useful, for example, as cardio- vascular agents, have the general formula (see formula I) wherein X is (see formula II or III) Y can be -COR2, (see formula IV) phenyl, phenyl substituted with alkyl of 1 to 4 carbons, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbons, alkylthio of 1 to 4 carbons, hydroxy, halo, nitro or trifluoromethyl, or a heterocyclic group selected from thiazolyl, 4,5-dihydrothiazolyl, pyridyl, oxazolyl, isoxazolyl, imidazolyl, tetrazolyl, benzimidazolyl, benzo- thiazolyl or benzoxazolyl including substituted heterocyclic groups wherein the substituents are selected from halo, alkyl and phenyl; Z can be (see formula V, VI, VII, VIII, XI or X) and wherein the various groups are as defined herein.
