PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a method and a system in which a bad influence on a flying characteristic due to a tracking target is eliminated and in which a power consumption is reduced. SOLUTION: An infrared reflecting plate 1 which is mirror-polished and which suppresses the radiation of infrared rays is attached to the engine outside plate of an aircraft, e.g. a helicopter. The infrared reflecting plate 1 becomes a temperature which is nearly identical to that of the engine outside plate. However, since the radiation amount of infrared rays of the plate is small as compared with that of the engine outside plate, the luminance of the infrared reflecting plate 1 is measured to be lower than the luminance of the engine outside plate when the helicopter is imaged by an infrared camera 3. On the basis of imaged data by the infrared camera 3, the position of the infrared reflecting plate 1 can be measured. On the basis of the position, the position of a corner cube 2 is calculated by a tracking and measuring device 6. A gimbal device 5 is controlled in such a way that a laser beam which is radiated from a laser distance-measuring device 4 hits the corner cube 2. On the basis of the angle of the axis of the gimbal device 5 and on the basis of the measured distance of the laser distance-measuring device 4, the position of the helicopter is measured three- dimensionally.
