PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drum type washing machine capable of being packed in a simple structure and of preventing generation of damage thereof at the time of falling during transportation. SOLUTION: This machine has a main body outer layer part 1 having a washing throw-in port 1a opened at a front surface, a bottomed water tank being disposed laterally in the part 1 and having an opening 4 at a portion facing the port 1a, a drum 5 to be supported rotatably within the tank 4, suspension means 7a and 7b to suspend the tank 4 in a swingable manner, and a weight 102 disposed in a protruding manner from an outer wall of the tank 4, at a position substantially just below the center of gravity W of a swinging body 100 to be suspended from the means 7a and 7b. At the time of packing, the weight 102 is supported from below with a packing member 55.
