PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording device which can efficiently and stably irradiate a recording material with energy of a laser light source and further can reduce thermal damage that a diffraction grating type light valve receives in the image recording device which modulates a laser beam by the diffraction grating type light valve and records an image on the recording material. SOLUTION: The laser light source 31 emits the laser beam having peak wavelength between 800 nm and 820 nm, the laser beam emitted from the light source passes through an illuminating lens 32 and a prism 35 and then irradiates the diffraction grating type light valve 25. After being split to numbers and modulated at the diffraction grating type light valve 25, the laser beam is reflected as diffracted beams. Zero-order diffracted beam among the diffracted beams is reflected by the prism 35 to bend its light path, passes through an image forming lens 36 and a lens 37 and image is formed on a recording medium 12 mounted on a surface of a drum 11.
