PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring method and device capable of properly monitoring the sealing state of a canister. SOLUTION: Strain of members constituting a canister 10 is detected by using radiation, and based on the detection result, the sealing state of the canister 10 is monitored. A sealing monitor device 11 is constituted of a detector 20 detecting strain of members constituting the canister 10 using radiation and a controller 21 for monitoring the sealing state of the canister 10 based on the detection result of the detector 20.
