<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical retardation device applicable to a wideband signal and easily adjusts delay, to provide a measuring method for delay difference and an adjusting method for the delay. <P>SOLUTION: The optical delay device is provided with a plurality of delay optical waveguides 2, an inputting part 5 inputting light to any of the delay optical waveguides 2 and an outputting part 8. The optical delay device 1 wherein the inputting part 5 can input and dispense input light to at least two delay optical waveguides 2 by a prescribed control is used. After bringing the state where the input light can be inputted and dispensed to at least two delay optical waveguides 2 by controlling the inputting part 5, one optical pulse is inputted to the inputting part 5 and dispensed and inputted to the at least two delay optical waveguides 2 and optical pulses outputted from the two delay optical waveguiges 2 are synthesized to output the synthesized optical pulse from the outputting part 8. The delay difference between the two delay optical waveguides 2 is obtained by measuring the time difference of the synthesized optical pulse and the delay can be adjusted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
