PURPOSE: An LCD(Liquid Crystal Display) and a fabricating method thereof are provided to omit a process for forming an alignment layer, thereby simplifying a manufacturing process by performing an orientation treatment on a pixel electrode with an ion beam. CONSTITUTION: The first oriented electrode(281) is formed over the first substrate(211) and the second oriented electrode(240) is formed over the second substrate(210). A liquid crystal layer(290) is disposed between the first and the second substrates. The first oriented electrode is formed by performing the orientation treatment on a pixel electrode of the first substrate and the second oriented electrode is formed by performing the orientation treatment on a common electrode of the second substrate, respectively. The orientation treatment is performed by using an ion beam. A process for forming an alignment layer is not required.
