Described herein are driveshafts (102) with balance weights (104) welded thereon and methods of manufacturing the same. The paint (112) is removed from the driveshaft (102) before the balance weight (104) is welded thereon. The paint removal and welding can be incorporated into the balancing process and equipment (210). The invention also relates to driveshaft balancing equipment (210) incorporating one of or both of paint removal capabilities (250) or welding capabilities (260).
