The sliding window has a central seal (9) between the frame and the upper horizontal leaf spar in the overlapping area of the leaves in the closure position. The housing frame (10) of this central seal is secured on the upper frame spar. A plate-shaped support (14) is mounted slidably in the vertical direction in the housing frame. The support (14) is equipped with sealing strips which co-operate with the leaf spars. The support is additionally equipped with spring bands (17) which bear on the frame spar. The fixing screws for securing the housing frame (10) on the frame spar are passed through channels (11) which are arranged in projections (12). These projections jut into the interior of the housing frame and engage in corresponding recesses (13) of the support (14). The vertical displacement capacity of the sealing strips on account of the bearing of the support (14) in the housing frame (10) affords a great range of compensation of the central seal, which goes far beyond the range of deformation of the sealing strips. <IMAGE> |
