PURPOSE:To obtain an oxide superconductor at a low pressure of 0.1-10atm without using impurities such as catalyst by adding a solvent to a material obtained by combining the specified compds. of Y, La, Ba and Cu, mixing the materials and burning the mixture in an oxidizing gas. CONSTITUTION:An oxide superconductor contg. rare-earth elements including Y and La, Ba, Cu and O as the constituent elements and in which the ratio of the rare-earth element, Ba and Cu is controlled to 1:2:4 is produced as follows. Namely, >=1 kind among the alkoxide, hydroxide and nitrate of the metals are firstly combined. The precursor sol or superfine particles are mixed into a solvent in which the combined material is dissolved or dispersed and agitated to form the mixture or reaction product. The mixture or reaction product is burned at 700-850 deg.C in an oxidizing gas current kept at 0.1-10atm to obtain the desired superconductor.
