The device includes a points operating device (10) which is connected to one end of a points operating cable (51). A measuring device (30,35) measures the position of a component connected to the points blade. A transmitter connected to the measuring device and to the end of the points operating cable, transmits the measuring signals (M1,M2) from the measuring device to a control device via the operating cable. The control device is connected to the other end of the points operating cable. The control device applies an operating voltage (U) to the points operating cable for controlling the points operating device. The control device can generate an error signal based on the measuring signals from the measuring device.
