PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semiconductor memory system capable of enlarging the capacity of a memory while maintaining the high-speed operation of a memory. SOLUTION: This semiconductor memory system 10 is provided with plural memory chips 13-1 and 14-1 and a controller 12 for controlling access to the plural memory chips 13-1 an 14-1. The memory chip 13-1 is connected through a bus 15 to the controller 12 and the memory chip 14-1 is connected through the bus 16 to the memory chip 13-1. The memory chip 13-1 is provided with a connection circuit 26 capable of changing the electric connection relation of the controller 12 and the memory chip 14-1.
