PURPOSE: Provided is a gold-plated fiber which significantly reduces the separation of the gold-based film from the fibrous material, and is not harmful to the human body even with the separation thereof. CONSTITUTION: A gold-plated fiber comprises a synthetic fiber substrate(100), a silver or palladium-based film(110) formed on the synthetic fiber substrate, and a gold-based film (120) formed on the silver or palladium-based film. The respective metallic films are formed by electrolytic plating, or electroless plating. The synthetic fiber substrate is pre-treated by etching, sensitizing, and activating. The thickness of the silver or palladium-based film is 0.1-1 micrometer, and that of the gold-based film is 0.05-0.5 micrometer. The synthetic fiber substrate is based on nylon, polyester, or acrylonitrile.
