The detergent contains a compound with detergent activity, an alkali metal carbonate builder and finely divided calcium carbonate with a specific surface area of at least 5 m<2>/g. The detergent is produced by mixing a powder which contains the detergent compound with particles which contain a binder and the finely divided calcium carbonate. The alkali metal carbonate can be present in both components. The particles contained in the detergent preferably comprise 25 to 99.5% by weight of calcium carbonate and 0.5 to 75% by weight of a binder. The cleaner produced by the said process does not have the known disadvantages resulting from the conventional mixing of coarse-particle components with very fine components in detergents.
