PURPOSE:To reliably inspect a print from the first symbol started to be printed by the final printing, by a method wherein counting of read mark pulses is started when a count start mark is sensed after the final printing is started, and the inspection of a symbol is started when a predetermined counted value is reached. CONSTITUTION:Read marks 7A, 7B, 7C... representing the positions of a multiplicity of small sections 4A, 5A, 6A... are put to a web 1 so as to be equal in pitch distribution to each other among sheets 3A, 3B, 3C. Count start marks 10A, 10B, 10C are put to the respective sheets with a pitch equal to the sheet length L0. A pulse is transmitted every time a read mark is detected by a read mark detection means located at a position apart from a symbol inspection means by an integer multiple of the sheet length L0. After the final printing is started, when a count start mark is detected by a count start mark detection means counting of the read mark pulses is started, and the symbol inspection by the symbol inspection means is started when a predetermined pulse number is reached. |
