After the tree trunk has been flattened on two mutually opposite sides, it is gripped in the apparatus by the holding device. The holding device is then pivoted about an axis lying at a preset distance from the longitudinal mid-axis of the trunk. This pivot axis preferably lies a short distance from the circumferential surface of the trunk. As a result, the trunk to be turned is rolled out of its original position axially parallel to the side, so that it requires no further alignment for subsequent processing operations. |
