PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF DERIVATIVES OF CYCLOPROPANE CARBOXYLIC ACID

Esters I [R = (un)substituted alkyl, aryl, heterocyclic; A' = alkyl, (un)substituted benzyl, furylmethyl, cyclopentenyl, pyridylmethyl, dicarboximidomethy ! were prepd. Thus, 1.33 g I (R = CH2CF3; A' = CH(CN)C6H4OPh-3) was obtained by esterifying 1.3 g of the I(R = CH2CF3; A' = H) (II) with 1.35 g of alcohol. The ester had an LD50 against houseflies of 1.115 ng/fly. II was prepd. from tert-Bu (1R, c:s) 2,2-dimethyl-3-(2,2-dibromovinyl)cyclopropanecarboxylate by carbonylation, esterification with CF3CH2OH, hydrolysis, and hydrogenation of the triple bond.
