PURPOSE:To put freely the complicated graphics like illustrations, photos, etc. into a document produced with input of character codes, by registering the image data read through an image reading part in the form of a dot pattern. CONSTITUTION:A reading command is produced from a display input part 14 after both originals A and B are set to an image reading part 11. The part 11 reads the originals A and B and quantizes them to produce the image data containing image pattern. This image data is delivered to a data processing part 12. The part 12 stores the image data on the original A into a memory part 13. Then the part 12 discriminates three enclosing frames 201-203 added to the original B by a pattern matching method for the image data on the original A stored in the part 13 and the image data on the original B received from a part 11. These recognized frames 201-203 are registered in the image data register areas in the part 13.
