PURPOSE:To produce orotic acid efficiently by culturing a microorganism in Corynebacterium, resistant to pyrimidine analogue and capable of producing orotic acid in a medium. CONSTITUTION:A microorganism in Corynebacterium, which is resistant to pyrimidine analogues, or resistant to both of pyrimidine analogues and sulfa drugs and capable of producing orotic acid is cultured in a medium to accumulate the subject orotic acid in the culture mixture, from which orotic acid is collected. An example of the microorganism capable of producing orotic acid is Corynebacterium glutamicum (FERM 1487), T-29 (FERM 1488). The cultivation is conducted aerobically by shaking cultivation or aeration agitation cultivation at 28-34 deg.C, at a pH of 6.0-7.5 for 2-5 days. |
