A sterilizer for treatment of oil palm and similar fruit brunches with steam under control conditions comprises an elongated receptacle (100), pivot means (170) and means for driving (300) the receptacle to various inclination positions. The elongated receptacle (100) in the form of a elongated cylindrical vessel includes an common filling/discharge means (110) at one end, and an interior chamber defined therein for sterilizing fresh fruit bunches under pressurized steam. The driving means (300) turns the elongated cylindrical vessel (100) around the pivot means (170) to various required positions in the vertical plane. The elongated receptacle (100) is turned to an inclination position around 60 degree angle with the filling/discharge opening (110) facing upward for the purpose of charging fruit bunches into the interior chamber. After filling the elongated receptacle (100) with fruit bunches, the filling/discharge gate (120) is closed, and the drive means (300) then turns the elongated receptacle (100) back until it is in a slight inclined position for carrying cooking by injection of steam into the interior chamber. After cooking is completed, the driving means (300) turns the elongated receptacle (100) to an inclination position with the filling/discharge means (110) facing downwards to discharge the treated fruit bunches. This invention possesses numerous improvements and advantages over the other known sterilizer in accordance with the pending Malaysian patent application no. PI 2012000255 for the treatment of fruit bunches. In particular, the invention possesses the following superior designs; - in the driving mean of the sterilization receptacle - in carrying steam treatment of the fruit with the longitudinal axis of the sterilization receptacle placed in a slightly inclined position. - in the joint mechanism for steam inlet and condensate outlet. |
