A reelable mechanically lined pipe (MLP) 48 having a metallic outer pipe 42 and a metallic inner liner 44, wherein the inner liner 44 is secured to the outer pipe 42 by one or more welds 46 extending longitudinally along the MLP 48. The welds 46 may be applied using a multi-torch 54 laser welding tool 52 transported through the pipe by a pig 51. The longitudinal welds 46 minimise wrinkling of the inner liner 44 when the MLP 48 undergoes bending, in particular spooling the MLP 48 onto and off a reel. Any wrinkles formed are sufficiently minor or small that they can be reduced or removed once the MLP 48 is installed on a seabed and after a hydrotesting step. |
