The invention relates to a side channel compressor comprising an impeller (2) which is arranged such that it can rotate in a housing (3), which is connected to a drive shaft that can rotate around a geometric axis of rotation (x), wherein the impeller (2) is positioned in the housing (3) in such a way that radially outer gaps (11) and radially inner gaps (13) exist between housing (3) and impeller (2), which, during operation, should prevent contact between impeller (2) and housing (3), wherein, in addition, the impeller (2) comprises a closed outer and inner edge and a plurality of vanes (5) on both axial sides, arranged behind one another in a circumferential direction of the impeller, and opening to a surface extending perpendicular to the axis of rotation (x), and the outer edge of which forms a circumferential wall (7) that is associated with a radial wall (10) of the housing (3) to form the radially outer gap (11). According to the invention, in order to advantageously develop a side channel compressor or a side channel machine of this type, such that an improved efficiency is achieved, firstly one or more sealing strips (14) having flat sides (15) are glued in the radially outer gap (11) between the closed outer edge of the impeller (2) and the radial wall (10) of the housing wall on the circumference, which is/are made of a material which lightly abrades in the event of a potential contact with the rotating impeller (2) and thus prevents a jamming of the impeller (2) on the housing (3), wherein the flat sides (15) of the sealing strip (14) extend along the radial wall (10) of the housing (3) and the outer edge of the impeller (2). |
