At least one layer of a coating positioned on the surface of a base material is a domain structure layer formed from at least two domains having different compositions. When the size of each of a plurality of first domains present in the domain structure layer is defined as the diameter of each virtual circumscribed circle in contact with the first domains, and the nearest neighbour distance of each of the first domains is defined as the shortest distance among the straight-line distances linking the centre of one of the circumscribed circles with the centres of other adjacent circumscribed circles, the average size of the first domains is at least 1 nm, but not more than 10 nm, and the average nearest neighbour distance of the first domains is at least 1 nm, but not more than 12 nm. At least 95% of the first domains have a size within the range of ±25% of the average size. At least 95% of the first domains have a nearest neighbour distance within the range of ±25% of the average nearest neighbour distance.
