In a wind power generation device (10), the rotational speed of a rotor (18) is increased and is transmitted to a synchronous generator (30) by means of a hydraulic pump (32) and a hydraulic motor (38). A wind turbine control device (60) drives the synchronous generator (30) as a synchronous phase modifier and controls the magnitude of the field current of the synchronous generator when power is not transmitted to the synchronous generator (30) while the synchronous generator (30) is connected to a power system (54) and reaches a synchronizing speed. As a consequence, the wind power generation device (10) can supply reactive power to the power system without adding new equipment such as a reactive power compensation device using a semiconductor switch. |
