PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress fluctuation of an output torque of an internal combustion engine caused by the presence of a low temperature oxidation reaction, when the engine for causing the low temperature oxidation reaction in a fuel in a mixture in a combustion chamber is controlled.SOLUTION: A microwave or high-frequency electric field is generated in the combustion chamber when a predetermined condition (low rotation speed, low load, and low intake air temperature) is established under which the low temperature oxidation reaction does not occur in the fuel in the mixture before ignition of the mixture in the combustion chamber. Thus, an intermediate product such as an OH radical is induced in this electric field and combustion is promoted in stead of the low temperature oxidation reaction. |
