PURPOSE:To prevent the blur of a transfer image or the precipitation of a dye at the time of long-term preservation and to obtain high transfer density by adding at least a dye receiving polymer and a plasticizer to an image receiving layer and making the plastizer content in the image receiving layer being the uppermost layer lower than that of the lower layer adjacent thereto. CONSTITUTION:An image receiving layer contains a dye receiving polymer having function receiving a thermal transfer dye and a plasticizer promoting the receptivity of the dye receiving polymer as essential components. When the image receiving layer is formed from two layers, it is necessary that the plasticizer content of the upper layer is lower than that of the lower layer and, pref., the plasticizer content of the upper layer is set to 2 - 20% and that of the lower layer is set to 5 - 30%. When the image receiving layer is formed from three layers, that is, the first, second and third layers from the surface thereof, it is necessary that the content of the plasticizer is highest in the second layer and reduced in the order of the first and second layers and, pref., the content of the plasticizer is set to 2 - 20% in the first layer, 5 - 30% in the second layer and 0.1 - 15% in the third layer. |
