PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid level indicator which permits the quantity of a liquid (the position of a liquid level) to be recognized more easily even in a situation where surroundings are dark.

SOLUTION: The liquid level indicator has a container 1 storing a liquid 3 (water for example), a liquid level indicator tube 2 communicating with the container 1 and intended to confirm the quantity of the liquid (water level for example) in the container 1, and a solid light source 4 emitting light having a prescribed wavelength of the wavelength region ranging from ultraviolet light to green visible light. A float 5 floating on the surface (liquid level) of the liquid 3 and containing at least one fluorescent material excited by excitation light from the solid light source 4 and emitting fluorescent light having a wavelength longer than the emission wavelength of the solid light source 4, is arranged in the liquid level indicator tube 2.
