Provided is a garbage processing device that can facilitate shredding of garbage, reduces as much as possible loads on the inside wall surfaces of processing tanks and drive system members, and can smoothly discharge waste from a discharge opening after processing. A garbage processing device (10), which, while stirring garbage and aerobic microorganisms, breaks down the garbage and carries out volume reduction processing, includes a processing tank (14), a stirring means (18) that stirs and mixes the garbage and the anaerobic microorganisms, and a discharge unit (120) that discharges waste to the outside of the processing tank (14). The processing tank (14) includes shredding protrusions (100) that are disposed in the bottom of the body inside wall surface (15C) thereof and shred garbage in cooperation with the stirring means (18). The stirring means (18) has a rotating shaft (52) and a plurality of stirring tools (70a, 70b), and the stirring tools (70a, 70b) include a scraping member (108) that scrapes garbage adhering to side inside wall surfaces (15A, 15B) of the processing tank (14).
