PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing an oil and gas adsorbent having excellent adsorbency using a plant-derived and animal-derived organic waste; and an oil and gas adsorbent produced by the production method.SOLUTION: A method for producing an oil and gas adsorbent formed of carbon Q includes: supplying a raw material P to be carbonized to a series of an internal space 2c of a kiln 2 which has an inlet 2in and an outlet 2out and performs drying, heat decomposition (carbonization) and accumulation of heat of the raw material P to be carbonized in the internal space 2c in this order; and accumulating heat in the raw material P to be carbonized and reducing a water content while indirectly heating the raw material P to be carbonized supplied to the internal space 2c in a reduction atmosphere state where oxygen is not introduced from the outside, and then indirectly heating and decomposing the raw material P to be carbonized, and thereby subjecting the raw material P to be carbonized to carbonization treatment.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
