PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of masking a confidential information image.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus 1 includes: a reading part 20; a character recognition part 121; a keyword determination part 122; an overlapped image data generation part 123; and an image formation part 30. The reading part 20 reads an image formed on a recorded medium. The character recognition part 121 recognizes characters included in an image read by the reading part 20. A keyword determination part 122 determines whether or not a keyword is included in the characters recognized by the character recognition part 121. The overlapped image data generation part 123 generates overlapped image data for masking the image of the characters corresponding to the keyword when it is determined that the keyword is included in the characters by the keyword determination part 122. The image formation part 30 forms a mask image in a mask object area in which the image of the characters corresponding to the keyword is formed on the basis of the overlapped image data.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
