This disclosure relates to controlling isolation of a machine. A computer receives a machine identifier of the machine from an operator and determines based on the machine identifier a communication address associated with the machine. The computer then sends a request for isolation of the machine to the communication address, receives a confirmation of isolation of the machine and generates a notification to the operator to indicate that the machine is isolated. This method is particularly advantageous when refuelling a mining or construction machine, such as a shovel, since the operator can request isolation and receive a confirmation without actually approaching the machine. As a result, the operator can remain in a safe environment, such as the cab of a fuel truck until the machine to be refuelled is isolated and it is safe to approach the machine. The method increases safety and reduces injuries and fatalities. |
