The present invention relates to a composition comprising a HDAC6 inhibitor as an active component for preventing or treating myositis and, more specifically, to a composition for preventing or treating myositis for protecting a function of mitochondria of myocyte by inhibiting HDAC6. The composition comprising the HDAC6 inhibitor as an active component for preventing or treating myositis according to the present invention can effectively treat myositis without side effects of an immunosupressor by protecting the function of mitochondria of myocyte by inhibiting HDAC6 not directly related to an immune system.
