PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a measuring device installation method and a measuring device capable of shortening installation time and reducing a material cost.SOLUTION: A measuring device installation method comprises: an excavation process to excavate a device insertion hole 10 on a wall surface of a tunnel 1; an outer pipe fixing process to fix an outer pipe 3 in the device insertion hole 10; and an inner pipe fixing process to fix an inner pipe 4 mounted with a measuring device in the outer pipe 3. The inner pipe 4 has: an extension member using a shape-memory alloy; a heater to heat the extension member; and fixing means which is moved back and forth along with extension and contraction of the extension member.
