<p>Polyvinyl pyrrolidone is reacted to form a complex with an organic nitrogen compound having in the molecule at least four organic radicals or hydrogen atoms linked to a nitrogen atom or atoms and which may be an imidazoline derivative solubilized with acetic acid, the compound obtained from ethylene diamine wherein one nitrogen atom is made tertiary and the other reacted to form an amide, tetraethylene pentamine reacted with acetic acid or a quaternary ammonium compound derived from an amino di-substituted coconut oil fatty acid. The polyvinyl pyrrolidone may be in the form of a complex with a titanium ester or salt.ALSO:Glass fibres are provided with a coating comprising a complex formed by the reaction of an organic nitrogen compound having in the molecule at least four organic radicals or hydrogen atoms linked to a nitrogen atom or atoms with polyvinyl pyrrolidone. The nitrogen compound may be an imidazoline derivative solubilized with acetic acid, the compound obtained from ethylene diamine wherein one nitrogen atom is made tertiary and the other reacted to form an amide, tetraethylene pentamine reacted with acetic acid or a quaternary ammonium compound derived from an amino di-substituted coconut oil fatty acid. The polyvinyl pyrrolidone may be also complexed with a titanium ester or salt. In an example, an aqueous coating composition comprises polyvinyl pyrrolidone, vinyl-ethoxy stearate and tetraethylene pentamine reacted with acetic acid. U.S.A.
