The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and a method for controlling the same. The mobile terminal according to an embodiment of the present invention includes: a main body comprising a front surface and a back surface; a display part which is arranged on the front surface; a sensor part which detects a user motion for the back surface; and a control part which executes control related to a generated event when a predetermined user motion on the back surface is detected, in a condition that a first image information is outputted to the display part. The control part can output information on the generated event, based on the detection of the predetermined user motion for the back surface. So, the generated event can be easily checked in the mobile terminal.
