An improved valve (140) comprises a hollow body (149) with an inlet (142), an outlet (143), a passage between the inlet and the outlet, and a valve member (144) mounted within the body. The valve member is moveable between an open position in which the passage is open for fluid to flow from the inlet to the outlet and a closed position in which the passage is substantially closed to substantially prevent fluid flow from the inlet to the outlet. In the open position the valve member locates adjacent an inner peripheral wall (141a) of the hollow body. The valve includes one or more projections (144c) on the valve member or on the inner peripheral wall. The projections maintain a gap between a surface of the valve member and the inner peripheral wall of the body when the valve member moves to the open position. The projections reduce a contact area between the valve member and the wall to reduce a force required for the valve member to return to the closed position. |
