PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission medium and an optical amplifier which improve an effect of confining multimode light propagating through the optical transmission medium in the optical transmission medium regardless of control of a refractive index so as to improve the performance of optical transmission and optical amplification using the optical transmission medium.SOLUTION: An optical transmission medium 1 includes: cores 11; clads 12, 13 for covering the cores 11; and a reflective layer 14 which covers the clads 12, 13 and which has a reflective property relative to a wavelength band of multimode light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
