摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide seal assemblies having improved flexibility for reducing leakages between adjacent misaligned components of turbomachinery.SOLUTION: A seal assembly 400 includes a first outer shim 402 formed of a flexible permeable material and a second outer shim 404 formed of a substantially impervious material. At least the second outer shim is configured for sealing engagement with seal slots of adjacent components. The seal assembly may also include at least one of an inner shim 412, 414, 416 and a filler layer 418, 420 positioned between the first and second outer shims. The seal assembly may be sufficiently flexible to cope with misalignment between the adjacent components, sufficiently stiff to meet assembly requirements, and sufficiently robust to meet operating requirements associated with turbomachinery.
