A method of requesting a plurality of different characteristic indicators from a second communication apparatus in a wireless communication network comprising a first communication apparatus and a plurality of such second communication apparatuses which communicate with the first communication apparatus using frames, the method comprising:
the first communication apparatus transmitting a single standing instruction comprising an allocation information element (IE) to the second communication apparatus instructing the second communication apparatus about a way to interchange between different characteristic indicators, in response to the single standing instruction, the second communication apparatus: a) sending a first characteristic indicator comprising a physical channel quality indicator in a feedback window of a first frame and increasing a frame count by n, where n is a natural number, b) sending a second characteristic indicator comprising an effective channel quality indicator in a feedback window of a second frame, and increasing the frame count by n, and c) repeating steps (a) and (b), wherein the second frame is transmitted n frames after the first frame.
