摘要 The present invention provides a surface inspection device and surface inspection method whereby an external peripheral face of an inspection region of a cylindrical inspection object is inspected easily and in a short time. This surface inspection device 10 is characterized by being provided with: a mirror-image forming means 20 having a through-hole 21 which enlarges in diameter in one direction so as to have an internal peripheral face forming a truncated cone shape, the entire internal peripheral face being formed as a mirror face, the mirror-image forming means 20 for causing the entire external peripheral face of an inspection region 51 of an inspection object 50 inserted into the through-hole 21 in the diameter enlarging direction to be reflected on the mirror face as an annular mirror image; and an imaging means 40 for capturing the annular mirror image reflected on the mirror face 22 as an annular panorama image, the imaging means 40 being disposed so as to face the mirror face 22 of the mirror-image forming means 20 and be separated from the mirror-image forming means 20 at a position coaxial with the through-hole 21; the minimum inside diameter of the through-hole 21 being in the range of 1.05-2.50 times the maximum outside diameter D of an inserted portion of the inspection object, and the imaging means 40 capturing an image of the entire external peripheral face of the inspection region 51 of the inspection object 50 by one-shot imaging without rotation of the inspection object 50 and movement of the imaging means 40.
